Celebrate International Women's Day
with a Rotary Event!
International Women's Day recognises women's achievements and highlights the continued struggle for equal rights and equality for women.
Rotary Ireland strives to support this event and therefore this creates an excellent opportunity for clubs to get involved to recognise
the achievements of a worthy recipient (must be non-Rotarian) and celebrate
the event at club/zone level.
Your club/zone could host a breakfast/lunch/ evening event near to the date!
Celebrate with speakers, local female personalities, your club/zone nominated rep, discuss the achievements of famous female personalities locally/internationally, support a female charity … many other ways!
Everyone can be involved, men and women can make this event successful!
Melinda Gates says, “This is a day to recognize the vital role of women in
society and the economy around the world.”
Supporting and/or hosting an International Women’s Day event will support:
· a membership dividend, get more women involved in Rotary;
· the awareness of Rotary International within your area;
· opportunities to showcase joined up Rotary ie clubs working together;
· potential development for an annual club/zone event; and
· media coverage and a good news story in our own Rotary News!
What is your club doing to celebrate International Women’s Day?
Will your club support a zone event?
Don’t forget to share your good story!
