The Open Door, Ballymoney

THE OPEN DOOR
The Open Door is a new cross-community drop in centre, based at 63 Main Street, Ballymoney. Its doors are open four days each week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) from 10am to 4pm.

The aim of The Open Door is to empower and enable local people to regain purpose and achievement through education, cross-community social interaction and crafts. It's focus is 'to be a community resource where everyone feels equally welcome, having their individual needs addressed'. We do this through facilitating a warm caring atmosphere, with light refreshments. We also provide a variety of literature regarding specific help areas. Additionally there are in-house opportunities to learn to cook, knit, crochet, make jewellery and be involved in card making etc, at individual and group levels. We also provide a lending library service.
The Open Door embraces diversity, welcomes all genders and age groups from school-children to elderly, while catering for the needs of the disabled, the elderly, parents, tired shoppers, unemployed, those who are depressed, carers, ethnic minority folks, the lonely and others. The organisation welcomes all, irrespective of background, status, race, political or religious affiliation. It is a relaxed venue where spiritual, emotional, temporal, educational and other needs can be addressed. It is a warm welcoming area where people can drop in and relax, read, pray, chat, pick up free literature and CDs, and have light refreshments. There is also a range of home-made crafts on display, these are very reasonably priced and make lovely gifts.

The Open Door is a resource which is manned by volunteers who come from various backgrounds. Yet all have a common denominator – “we care about people”. The Open Door is a “not for profit” and “faith based organization” and a registered charity.
